# Environments and time windows

How the environment and the time window scope every page in Curade Mini, how to pick them, what a closed environment means and what is always live.

Every page in Curade Mini reads one environment over one time window. Both sit in plain view: the environment picker at the bottom of the drawer and the time window at the top right of every monitoring page. When a page looks wrong, those two, and any filter on the page itself, are the first things to check.

## Picking an environment

The environment picker at the bottom of the drawer lists only the environments your account has been given. Pick another one and every page follows: the dashboard, the monitoring pages and CLEO.

The list keeps up with changes while the app is open. An environment someone gives your account appears straight away, and one taken off your account, or deleted, goes. If that was the one on screen, the app moves to another environment you still have and says so. With none left, every page says there is no environment available, the same as for an account that has not been given one yet.

## When an environment is closed

Two things close an environment's monitoring pages while leaving the rest of the app open:

- **API Token Expired**: the access token the environment reads monitoring with has lapsed. The dashboard is covered by a panel saying so, and each monitoring page in the drawer carries a lock. Someone who manages the environment renews the token in the console, and the pages open again.
- **Environment Suspended**: Core Consulting has suspended the environment. Its monitoring pages and CLEO are closed, and the picker marks it **Suspended** and will not switch to it. Everyone in it gets an email and a notice in the app. It is deleted, with its widgets, chats and files, no later than 30 days after the suspension, unless Core Consulting lifts the suspension first.

## The time window

The time window at the top right of a monitoring page sets the stretch of time the page covers: a recent window such as the last 2 hours or the last 30 days, or a custom range of dates. A custom range shows its dates with the year. The window you pick carries across the app as you move between pages.

Change the window and the page reads everything again for the new one. The controls at the top of the screen keep working while a page loads, and an answer for an earlier window that arrives late never replaces the newer one.

## What follows the window, and what is live

Most readings cover the window you picked. A few describe right now, because monitoring only reports a current state for them:

- Problem counts and problem lists cover everything that was open at any point inside the window.
- The health score, and the health of each service and host, describe right now. Widening the window changes which items are counted, never their health.
- The **Service Health Split** and **Unhealthy Hosts** widgets badge themselves **Live now** instead of showing a range.

A page labels the readings that do not follow the window, so a reading marked as live is working as it should.

## The newest interval of a window

A chart splits the window into intervals. In a window that runs up to now, the newest interval is usually still arriving, since its readings take a couple of minutes to come in. The chart draws that last point smaller and paler, picking it reads "so far", and it never counts as an interval with no reading. A custom range that ended in the past has no such interval: every interval in it has settled.

## When a page reads again

A page reads its numbers again when you open it, when you come back to it after more than a minute, when the app returns after more than a minute away and when you pull down on it. It does not refresh on a timer while it sits on screen. Your monitoring alerts are what tell you about a change while you are not looking.
