# Key terms

The words Curade uses across its pages, from tenant, host and tag to panel, CLEO, pipeline and the roles each account holds.

The terms below appear across Curade and these docs. Each one means the same thing everywhere it appears.

## Monitoring

| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Tenant | One of your organisation's monitored IT environments, as Curade looks after it. Each one keeps its own users, sources, dashboards and settings. |
| Host | A monitored machine, such as a server or a virtual machine, whose CPU, memory, disk and network readings Curade collects. |
| Tag | A label on hosts or transactions, set up in Curade or imported from a source. Reports can group by it. |
| Source | One connection a tenant collects data from in your organisation's monitoring platform. A tenant can have several. |
| Active or inactive | Whether Curade collects data for a tenant or a source. An inactive one keeps its history. |
| Transaction | A monitored user action or request, with its count, its slow count and its timings. |
| Threshold | The minimum and maximum utilisation lines capacity planning judges each host against. |
| Maintenance window | A stretch of time for chosen hosts or transactions that reports can leave out. |

## The modules

| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | A page of panels for a tenant. You own the dashboards you create and choose who else sees them. |
| Panel | A tile on a dashboard showing one metric, drawn as a stat, a line, a bar, a pie, a table or a gauge. |
| CLEO | Curade's AI support engineer, which answers questions about an environment. |
| Settings | Where admins manage the users, tenants and roles they look after. |
| Pipeline | An automation job, such as a deployment or a restart, built from stages and run on demand or on a schedule. |
| Template | A ready made starting point for a pipeline. |
| Credential | A username and password, a secret or a private key that pipelines use without showing it. |
| Report | A document Curade builds from a tenant's data and emails once or on a schedule. |
| Email group | A named list of email addresses that reports go to. |

## People

| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Role | What your account can open and do: a platform role, and a tenant role in each tenant it works in. |
| Platform role | Your role across Curade: Platform Admin or Platform User. |
| Tenant role | Your role in one tenant: Tenant Admin, Tenant User or a custom role. |
| Responsible engineer | A member of a tenant marked as one of the people who look after it. |
