Capacity planning
Capacity planning in Curade suggests which hosts to upsize, downsize or keep, from each host's CPU and memory use against the tenant's thresholds.
On this page
Capacity Planning, under Analytics, looks at each host's CPU and memory use over the year, quarter or month you pick, and suggests whether to upsize it, downsize it or leave it as it is. It reads the sources you picked at the top of the page. Tenant Admins and Tenant Users both open it.
The summary
The top of the page counts the tenant's hosts: Available Host, Unavailable Host and Reviewable Host, the hosts with a suggestion to review. Beside them, the reviewable hosts are counted by suggestion, such as CPU should be upsized or memory should be downsized, and a chart shows how many hosts are stable, to review or short of data. The list below holds every host with its status, its readings and its suggestion, with a search, filters by environment, status and suggestion, and a choice of columns.
How a suggestion is made
For CPU and for memory, Curade compares the host's highest utilisation in the period with the tenant's thresholds:
- Below the minimum threshold, it suggests downsizing.
- Between the two thresholds, the host is stable.
- Above the maximum threshold, it checks how often the host spiked. When more than half of its readings in the period sit above the line, it suggests upsizing; otherwise the host is stable.
A host without enough data shows insufficient data instead of a suggestion. The thresholds belong to the tenant: Configure Threshold on the page, or Threshold under Config, sets them (Environment configuration).
The host's page
Selecting a host opens Host Details: its general information, its CPU and memory analysis with the highest reading and how often it spiked, and charts of its highest and average CPU, memory and disk use, by month, quarter or year.
Exporting
Export As saves the host list as Excel (.xlsx), Text (.txt) or JSON (.json), and a host's page as PDF (.pdf) (Share and export).
